In some applications, the surface available for mounting the pedal is not wide enough to accept the holes provided in the base of the pedal. The 3 hole pedal mounting plate allows you to drill 2 horizontal holes (narrow set of holes) in the surface for mounting the plate. You can then attach the pedal using the vertical holes (wide set of holes).
